Upsa-daisy

Today, the world seems a little less grim. An enjoyable confirmation class yesterday helped. I actually find it is the teaching side of ministry, rather than the pastoral granny farming which stimulates and inspires me. Not that it's unimportant, but it's not where my gifts seem to lie. I also get a kick out of doing the odd RMPS class at the High School. Maybe I need to think about going more into that sort of post than doing parish? A worthwhile thought as I hit the middle of my time. Time's winged chariot does seem to be goosing me of late.

  1. It's good that you are thinking like this, Dougal. I was never against the granny or indeed the juvenile farming, as you know, and mostly enjoyed my time in congregational life - but I must confess that I do find a great liberation in being away from all the trivia that seems to preoccupy people in parishes. I can also tell you that I've never talked more about God than I have done here.

  2. I really miss the opportunities that teaching English gave me - far more, I felt, than the RE I taught when I first went back to work. Of course, now that I'm a granny ...
